English as a Second Language or ESL-Bilingual Endorsement Only
Program: NOND-ESLA-3
Candidates with a professional educator license seeking to add the English as a Second Language and/or Bilingual Endorsement to their license must complete the following coursework. The ESL Endorsement is valid only at the preK-12 grade levels. All coursework is aligned with the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) standards. This is a non-degree program; candidates may, however, apply the endorsement courses to a Master's in Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction as indicated in the previous section. ESL and Bilingual endorsement requires 100 clinical/fieldwork hours.
Candidates who seek a Bilingual Endorsement must successfully complete the Illinois approved language proficiency test or have completed the Illinois high school seal of biliteracy.
Two years of teaching experience is not required for enrollment or ESL/Bilingual Endorsement.
