Admission
Students interested in declaring a Social Work major must
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
- Have earned at least a "C" in SCWK 20000 Introduction to Social Work, SCWK 21500 Cultural Humility and Social Power, and SCWK 25000 Human Behavior in the Social Environment (HBSE)
- Be registered for SCWK 39000 Social Work Practice with Individuals
- Submit an application to the BASW Program Director, which includes an application, a personal statement, and two recommendation forms from previous course instructors
Applications are due the BASW Program Director by October 1 of each year.
In order to maintain in good standing as a Social Work major and continue to Social Work Practicum, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and a minimum 2.75 Social Work GPA.
Please note: The Department of Social Work does not grant Social Work course credit for life experience or for previous work experience.
