Eastern European: Russian Language and Culture Minor
East European (Polish and Russian) Americans are the largest European-American ethnic group in the Chicago metropolitan area with as many as 1.5 million people claiming this ancestry. The Russian language and culture minor is uniquely innovative and interdisciplinary in nature, emphasizing both language and culture. Russian is the language designated by the US Government as a critical-need language, crucially important for the well-being and national security of the United States. Russian Heritage speakers must consult with the Chair of the Department of World Languages when selecting language courses for this minor. The upper-division course may not be applied to any other minor or major offered at Lewis University.
Students must complete 18 credits in the Russian language.
